A Brief Pause for The Sheet

December 10th, 2012

From the editor of The Sheet, for Hanuman Medical Foundation:

For urgent family reasons, Scott King will take a break from writing his twice-monthly blog posts.  Scott’s sister was suddenly diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and needs the support of her entire family for a while.  Fortunately, the large-mammal experiments with the Islet Sheet can continue with a minimum of Scott’s attention. He expects to resume his regular postings in January 2013.

Meanwhile, he and we urge you to consider a year-end gift to Hanuman Medical Foundation to help fund the Islet Sheet Project at its current critical stage of research. Your help will be equally welcome in 2013, which will be a crucial year as the team works to confirm the initial positive results of implanting Islet Sheets in diabetic pigs, so that we can progress toward clinical trials.

Please tell Scott I am so sorry to hear about the news. Scott and his family will be in my prayers. While I am not saying diabetes is a easy challenge to face by no means. Scott sister sister’ situation gives meaning to the proverb, about a person complaining about having no shoes until they come across a person with no feet. Please thank Scott for all he has done and tell him to take the much needed time with his family and we look forward to hearing from him when ever he gets back!
